Celebrate the 100th birthday of Pasquotank County native Max Roach, the master percussionist whose rhythmic innovations defined bebop jazz, on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Douglas Jackson, professor of music at Elizabeth City State University, will make remarks on the life and accomplishments of Max Roach. Enjoy an evening of jazz and celebrate Max Roach with Pasquotank County native, Thomas Taylor, North Carolina Central University assistant professor of percussion, and accompanying musicians who will provide live music honoring Max Roach. 

The City of Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County Commission will issue an official proclamation designating January 10th as Max Roach Day in Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County.
